Year 4 in 2023 OutwardBound Aberdovey 12-14th May in Aberdovey £250 - subsidised
03.02.23
Dear Parent / Carer, (Current Year 4))
Thank you for your continued support.
This is the final letter for the Outward Bound Trip to Aberdovey
Please find a link to the Aberdovey site and a packing list info guide with this email.
Please arrive at school on the 12th for 8:30 and children go to the Year 2 classroom with their small rucksack.
Please leave your main (small case) downstairs near the kitchen door but not blocking the entrance to school. It would be great if parents helped to load the coach. If it is raining cases can go in the hall.
If you have any medication please ensure that this is in a clear zip bag with your name on and given to your group leader. The children can take games, reading books etc. to keep themselves amused. Your child must not take anything electrical.
Your child must have a water bottle. Please ensure that they have some money for lunch as we will be stopping at services for brunch on the way there and tea on the way back. £12-£20 should be more than enough. You may also give your child some money for the centre there is a gift shop and snack bar and vending machines for healthy drinks.
We should be back for approximately 7pm on Sunday evening-we will keep you informed by group text.
PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO PACK AT LEAST TWO DECENT TOWELS!
Once Again Thank You!
Makenyon Head Teacher

NOTES
Bring two pairs of trainers - one pair that you don’t mind getting wet or muddy. This could be an
old pair or some ‘wet shoes’.
Fleeces are ideal as they dry quickly but any of the other items are a good substitute.
Trousers (tracksuit bottoms, leggings, walking trousers).
You can bring jeans for around the centre and travelling, but not for activities because they take
too long to dry if they get wet.
Aim for tops that cover your shoulders from the sun.
Trainer socks aren’t recommended as you’ll be wearing walking boots. Sports bras may be useful.
Don’t bring expensive sunglasses. Sun cream should be at least factor 30.
We can provide these but feel free to bring your own.
You will need a towel for showering and on activities, so bring at least one.
It’s also a good idea to bring a couple of plastic bags to carry any wet clothes in.
Please don’t bring aerosols or painkillers. Don’t forget asthma inhalers, epipens or personal
medication if needed.
You won’t need more than £10-15 per week for spending money. All centres have a small shop which
sell healthy snacks and souvenirs. Please bring £10 as a refundable kit deposit.
If you click on the link below it will take you to the centre.

Previous School Trips
PGL Devon 27th June to 2nd July - COVID safe!
As a school and learning community we pride ourselves on our broad and balanced curriculum and residential opportunities.
We believe that children gain so much from these trips:
1 Developing independence. Going on a residential trip encourages the children to step out of their comfort zone and embrace the world without their parents.
2 Improved confidence and self esteem. Whilst on an adventure trip the children will overcome challenges and achieve things that they did not think possible.
3 Improved teacher and pupil relationships. Once outside of the classroom and in an unfamiliar environment, pupils often see teachers in a different light and positive relationships are formed.
4 Engaging hard to motivate pupils. Pupils who struggle in a classroom environment are often the ones who come into their own in an outdoor setting.
5 Making lifelong memories. Ask many adults and the memory that stands out the most from school is a trip away!
These trips are life-changing!
